Blessings for… something??

Being in the “Word of Faith” “non” denomination 🙂 for so long I can’t tell you how many times we heard ” if you want something from God you’ve never had before, you must do something for God you’ve never done before”!

The idea was that if the pastor said it in an excited voice you may just raise your hands in church for the first time ever and then you would get your breakthrough or a miracle. Maybe you would shout “Jesus” 57 times and then run around the church and magically your family would all become loving or those family and friends you prayed for for so long would come to know Jesus. We even heard the comment “be released from that which is blocking your blessings”!

I ask you, is the Word not true? Is God not BIGGER than ANYTHING that could “block” a blessing? Did He not defeat the devil when He died on the cross? Is He not greater and more powerful than the devil and any other demons and principalities of darkness?

My personal answer is YES! My God who lives and reigns in my life is mighty, all powerful, the decision maker in charge of life and death and everything in the middle and my God is unstoppable! There is nothing I can do to make good things happen. There is nothing I can do to stop bad things from happening. Pray, yes! Fast, yes! But, it’s all in God’s hands. I’m not in control. His grace is sufficient. His wisdom is infinite and my ways aren’t his ways!

There was a post on FB Saturday from Joseph Prince that I can’t copy and paste from my phone, but you should be able to find it on his website at josephprince.org He posted this well know scripture I Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

I think I’ve used this scripture before and even in December or November I wrote a post saying that yes, this scripture is true. However, if I’m serving God with my whole heart nobody is going to devour me. God is on my side because I know Him and He knows me! I don’t have to always live in fear and bind up the devil.

Joseph Prince said “beloved, Jesus has defeated the devil at the cross, taken all the condemnation for your failures, and qualified you to receive all of God’s blessings. Rejoice, for the roaring lion has been de-fanged, and he has no more power over you”.

Amen to that!!

There are no works that we can ever do to get us into Heaven, to escape from the devil’s curses, or to heal broken hearts, or mend broken families. Running around a church isn’t going to save loved ones and fasting without sincerity won’t bring you closer to God. However, Faith in God, Grace from God, and the Love of God can do all of those things!

We fall short of the glory of God. There is never a time that we can do enough of anything because we always lack. We still sin. Nobody is 100% correct in their teachings, prophecies, and especially opinions. But, His grace is sufficient. The devil is defeated. We are victorious through Christ Jesus! Trust God our Father to make the best decision in every situation… He’s totally on your side! 🙂

  2. yeah you are back, I can feel the new years steam, keep it coming, but remember God is there for those who love Him and what? Do, the magic word what does this mean works ,it will never happen in our own strenght,we can’t even think it with out the nudge of the spirit, what I say are we doing our own way nay, my own agenda, nay, but to do the will of the father is to love the cross and be a neighbor[servant] and obey the will of the father set before us[we brissle like a disobendient 3 yr old].I so enjoy you voice in many views, but I was “princed” out many years ago along with running around circles chasing the holy ghost of man. Q, where is your power[Holy Spirit} and How do you line it up with Gods Word #2, what is our purpose? as christain blessings LG

    1. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of JP. Actually not a fan of any pastor especially televised. I appreciate what they do as I’m sure many many lives have been changed but they all are still human. No calling is greater than any other. They will be judged more harshly as the Bible says because they “reach” (good or bad ways) more people than the average man… But they are still man and they are not always accurate! Neither am I.
