Rick ScarboroughReport… An Outcry for Awakening

40 Days of Prayer,Fasting And Action (from September 28 to November6)

Christians are called to be salt and light. We’retold to stand for Biblical truth, regardless of theconsequences. Unfortunately, when it comes to opposingso-called same-sex marriage specifically and the homosexualagenda generally, many pastors are AWOL…absentwithout leave.

Ironically, one of the most outspoken critics of thepresident’s embrace of gay “marriage” isnone other than Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakhan, agood friend of Obama’s former spiritual mentor Rev.Jeremiah Wright.

Speaking in San Diego, California on May 27, Farrakhan condemned the deconstruction of marriage in no uncertain terms.

“I’m not afraid of my brothers and sisters or others who may be practicing what God condemned in the days of Lot,” Farrakhan confessed. “That’s not our job to be hateful to our people. Our job is to callus to sanity. Our job is to call the people to righteous conduct.”

Regarding presidents taking the oath of office on theBible (which condemns sodomy unambiguously), the Nation of Islam leader rhetorically asked: “If the book is no good, what the he-l are you using it for to take an oath of office to uphold not the Bible, but the Constitution?”Farrakhan added, “But the Constitution comes out of their (the Founding Fathers’) recognition of the value of this book (theBible).”

The foregoing is not intended to legitimize the man who calls himself Minister Farrakhan. The leader of an extremist cult, Farrakhan is an anti-American, anti-Semitic, anti-Israelracist, who consorts with America’s enemies around theworld.

And yet, in this instance at least, he’s right. Why can’t more pastors, priests and rabbis be equally frank about what is the greatest threat to the family of our generation?

Man ypastors are intimidated by the viciousness of homosexual activists and their media allies. They fear being labeled abigot and a hatemonger – even though a Christian should always temper his rejection of sin with a message of love and forgiveness. In fact, the greatest expression of self love today is the desire to be liked so much that a person refuses to tell another the truth for fear of being rejected.  JOY has often been defined as Jesus first;others second, and yourself, last. I fear far too many of my brethren in the church have fallen more in love with themselves than Jesus, others or the truth.

Unlike the NAACP, which shamefully endorsed the president’s support for the mockery of marriage, Dwight McKissic, theAfrican-American pastor of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, declared; “President Obama has betrayed the Bible and the Black Church in his endorsement of same-sex marriage.”

On May8, North Carolina became the 31st state to pass a marriage-protection amendment to its constitution, by a statewide vote of 61%.  In predominantly black counties, the amendment carried by over 70%.  An overwhelming majority of black voters appear to agree with my Black preacher friend and former NFL great, Pastor Ken Hutcherson, who warns gay activists, “Don’t compare your sin to my skin.”

More of us must follow the courageous example of Pastor McKissic.  Equating homosexual liaisons with marriage between a man and a woman will ultimately destroy an institution ordained by God. Our civilization will stand or fall on the sanctity of marriage and integrity of the family.

If the church shirks its responsibility, less wholesome elements will move in to fill the void.

That’s why Vision America called more than 100 leaders to meetings over the past few weeks, asking them to join our national call to prayer and repentance during a 40 Day Season of Prayer, Fasting And Action. God promises to hear from Heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land…IF we will humble ourselves, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways. (See II Chronicles7:1).

We now have over 80 groups in our Alliance of Participating Organizations. Together, we are attempting to launch the biggest prayer effort in our nation’s history, calling on thousands of pastors to lead their respective congregations in a 40-day season of prayer and fasting for America, beginning on September 28 with two days of prayer and praise on the Mall of America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and concluding on Election Day when the polls in Hawaii close.

  1. This is great. I say a big AMEN to this. We all have to stand up not fearing to be called hate mongers or anything else. This country is going to hell in a hand basket if us Christians don’t stand up and do something.
