What exactly is the agenda of your church? Is your church growing? Are visitors getting up and leaving after the first few songs? What fruit is coming from your church? What are their plans for the present and the future?
The answers to all of these questions are the evidence of their agenda. To know these answers is to understand the heart of the pastors. I’ve said before and will say again, whatever happens in the leadership will trickle down to the people.
If there is sin in leadership that same sin will be ignored or even approved of by the leadership. If there is only a desire to grow self, the congregation will adopt this attitude and will actually cause the church to remain stagnant. If the pastors are sluggish and lazy, the whole body will be also. If the pastors have a heart for missions and are actively searching for opportunities to serve in this area, the body will also.
In the 14 months we have been at our new church we have had anywhere from 1-5 people accept Jesus in there heart almost every weekend. In fact, I can count on 1 hand how many weekends nobody came forward. The fruit here is awesome. The fruit is selflessness and a hunger to love people, serve people humbly, give to each other, support other ministries, and give expecting nothing back. The heart is also for you yourself to pray and ask God where you belong in ministry both in the church body and out of it. Our church has grown approximately 10 % each year for several years now. Praise God our church is not the only one like this. Churches like this behold the scripture that says “where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty”!
People are always drawn to an institution that has these signs of the fruit of the spirit. They feel the freedom of Christ, loved, and free from pressure and intimidation. They also feel encouraged to step out in the gifts and calling God has placed on them as individuals. With entities such as this one there is no fear, condemnation, or judgement. People are encouraged to read the Word daily, hear the voice of God and be delivered from sin as God convicts them to, not when man decides its time to let go of these iniquities.
I encourage you to ask yourself the above questions and be honest with your answers. If the truth is good then praise God, you are blessed with a wonderful church family. If the answers make you queazy… Please pray for direction and ask God to bless you with this type of freedom and excitement in Him that you truly long to have! Have a blessed day!
