Gentle

I don’t know about you, but I don’t jump for joy and jump at “being obedient” when I’m treated rudely. God just did not put it in my DNA to do that. In fact, I don’t know who’s DNA He did put it in. I have always tried my best to treat others with respect and I expect to be treated the same.

With my family or the AT&T representative, when I feel I’m starting to raise my voice or get snippy I recite these words… “a gentle answer turns away wrath”… “a gentle answer turns away wrath”…

A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. (Proverbs 15:1 NLT or New Living Translation)

I believe that obviously God thought it was so important that we treat each other with respect that He made sure this scripture made it in the Bible. Rightly so! It just makes good since. It lines up with the behavior Jesus portrayed and it lines up with the love scripture! And again, it does not matter who you are or what position you hold, this scripture applies to you. Remember from yesterday’s post… God shows no favoritism and you will be held accountable… Everybody will be held accountable according to what they do!

Today, I encourage you to memorize this scripture and keep it at the fore front of your heart and mind. It may change a relationship and it may just change you for the better! It may bring you more joy!
